A 6m general waste skip bin from Shelby Skips costs $670 across Brisbane's northside, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast, GST included (prices last checked 04/10/2026). Green waste is $555, concrete and brick $620, clean fill $720, light construction $790, and mixed and heavy $860. You get the bin for a week, filled up to its weight limit, and delivery and pick-up are included. A 6m holds 6 cubic metres, about 24 wheelie bins or 6 box trailer loads, and is 3.6m long, 1.5m wide and 1.3m high.

What's a 6m good for?

It's the size builders and landscapers usually book, for building waste and soil. Households book it to clear a whole house or a deceased estate. It also suits a renovation where the kitchen, the bathroom and the flooring all come out. Book that as mixed and heavy. Other jobs are in our size guide.

One 6m or two 4m bins?

On price alone, one 6m costs less than two 4m bins and saves a second delivery. Two 4m bins do give you more room and more weight allowance, though.

Will it fit?

Check the height. The 6m is 400mm taller than the 2m, 3m and 4m. Look for a carport roof, a low gutter, an overhanging branch or a gate you have to pass under.

Do I need a walk-in skip bin?

A walk-in skip bin has a drop-down door. One end swings down to the ground, so you can walk or wheel a barrow straight in. That matters more on a 6m than on the smaller bins, because the sides are taller.

The door version is $50 more on every waste type. That's $720 for general waste, $605 for green waste, $670 for concrete and brick, $770 for clean fill, $840 for light construction and $910 for mixed and heavy.

How heavy can it be?

1,200kg of general or green waste, 1,500kg of light construction, and 6,000kg of clean fill, concrete or mixed and heavy. The door version has the same limits.

We don't run concrete or clean fill in an 8m, so the 6m is the biggest bin for those. It's also the biggest for a mixed load with soil or concrete in it.

What does an extra day cost?

An extra day on a 6m is $55, GST included, with or without the door.
