Skip bins for builders
Builders and landscapers usually book a 6m skip bin from Shelby Skips, which takes up to 6,000kg of building waste or soil. In mixed and heavy it's $860 for a week, GST included (prices last checked 02/10/2026), with delivery and pick-up. We deliver across Brisbane's northside, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast, and hire hook bins too.

Which skip bin for building waste?
Book mixed and heavy when tiles, timber or rubbish are in the rubble. If it's all concrete and brick, or all clean fill, book that type instead. It costs less.
6m concrete and brick
Concrete and bricks only. $620, or $670 with a door.
6m clean fill
Uncontaminated soil and dirt only, with no rubbish, plants or debris.
$720, or $770 with a door.
8m mixed and heavy
$1,060. It takes the same 6,000kg, but no soil, concrete or besser blocks.

How much is a hook bin?
Hook bins are for big jobs, from 12 to 30 cubic metres. These are our starting prices, GST included. We book hook bins by phone only, so ring Shaun on our main number for your price.

The 12m and 15m construction bins take some concrete. The 23m and 30m take none. We don't hire hook bins for soil, or for bricks and concrete on their own.
A hook bin is longer and lower than a skip bin, so not every site has room for one. A heavy load has to be spread evenly along the bin. Shaun will check both with you on the phone.
Hook bins can also go south of the river.
Where does a skip bin go on a job site?
It goes on the property you're working on, so you don't need a council permit. Our skip bin truck needs a gap about 2.4m to 3m wide to get in. It's 2.85m high, and up to 3.75m while it lifts a bin.
We always put timber under the bin. If there's soft ground or a steep slope, tell us before the day.
We aren't licensed to carry asbestos, so it can't go in the bin.
Booking bins job after job?
Shaun runs our second truck, mostly for builders.
If you book with us often, book a day ahead where you can. It gives us the best chance of having your bin there when you need it.
How long do I keep a skip bin?
From delivery day to the same day the next week. Need it longer? Ring us before the pick-up date. Each extra day is $33 on a 2m, 3m or 4m and $55 on a 6m or 8m, GST included.
Finished early? Ring us and we'll pick it up as soon as we can.
When do I pay for a skip bin?
Before or at delivery, by card, bank transfer or cash.
Is there a charge for distance on a skip bin?
No. It's the same price anywhere in our area.
