A 4m general waste skip bin from Shelby Skips costs $470 across Brisbane's northside, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast, GST included (prices last checked 04/10/2026). Green waste is $400, clean fill $420, concrete and brick $420, light construction $590, and mixed and heavy $660. Every price covers the bin for a week, filled to its weight limit, delivered and picked up. A 4m holds 4 cubic metres, about 16 wheelie bins or 4 box trailer loads, and is 3.2m long, 1.5m wide and 0.9m high.

What's a 4m good for?

A kitchen or bathroom renovation. It's the size we normally suggest for one bathroom. Book either one as mixed and heavy, never general waste. A 4m also takes a garage clear-out or the rubbish left after a house move. Other jobs are in our size guide.

How does it compare?

A 4m is 800mm longer than a 3m and $110 more on general waste. A 6m is 400mm taller, so the 4m is the last size you can load over the side without a door.

Do I need a walk-in skip bin?

A walk-in skip bin has a drop-down door. One end swings down to the ground, so you can walk or wheel a barrow straight in. It's worth it if you're moving bricks, pavers, soil or anything heavy by barrow. The door needs clear ground at that end to swing down onto, so allow more room there.

The door version costs $30 more on every waste type. That's $500 for general waste, $430 for green waste, $450 for clean fill, $450 for concrete and brick, $620 for light construction and $690 for mixed and heavy.

How heavy can it be?

800kg of general or green waste. 900kg of light construction. 4,000kg of clean fill, concrete and brick, or mixed and heavy. The door version has the same limits.

What does an extra day cost?

An extra day on a 4m is $33, GST included, with or without the door.
